Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, is in Southern Asia. It is an island country in the Indian Ocean, south of India. It is a tropical country, you can expect the rain anytime of the year in different parts of the country. However, the two major rainy seasons are North-East monsoon (October to January) predominantly affecting the east coast and South-West monsoon (May to July) which predominantly affects the west & south coast of sri lanka.
Being an island, the climate of Sri Lanka changes dramatically from one part of the country to another. For example at Nuwara Eliya, in the hills of Central Sri Lanka, has a temperature around 5-20°C throughout the year, whereas Hambanthota, located in the dry zone, has a temperature consistently around 30-35°C.
Followings are the most visiting place of Sri Lanka:
Day 01: Bandaranaike International Airport to Anuradhapura (170 km – 03 hours 20 minutes approx)
A representative will meet & greet you on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Proceed in a very comfortable air conditioned vehicle to Anuradhapura. Upon arrival in Anuradhapura, commence a city tour. Proceed to the hotel, Anuradhapura. Overnight at Anuradhapura.
Day 02: Anuradhapura to Sigiriya (75 km approximately 01 hour 30 minutes approx)
Early morning have breakfast at hotel & leave for Sigiriya. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Proceed to hotel at Sigiriya. Overnight at Sigiriya
Day 03: Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa (60 km approximately 01 hour 20 minutes approx)
After breakfast at hotel make an excursion to Polonnaruwa. Upon arrival commence a city tour of Polonnaruwa. Return to Sigiriya. Overnight at Sigiriya.
Day 04: Sigiriya /Dambulla / Kandy (100 km approximately 02 hours 50 minutes approx)
After breakfast at hotel leave for Kandy. En route visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple. Proceed to Kandy. En route free visit to Luck grove Spice Garden. Upon arrival commence a city tour of Kandy. Proceed to Hotel, Kandy. Overnight stay at Kandy.
Day 05: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (76 km approximately 02 hours 40 minutes approx)
Early morning have breakfast at Hotel and depart to Nuwara Eliya. Proceed to Peradeniya Railway Station and take the train to Nanu Oya Railway Station. Vehicle will pick you up from the Nanu Oya Railway Station and proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Proceed to the Hotel, Nuwara Eliya. Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 06: Nuwara Eliya to Hikkaduwa:
Have breakfast at the Hotel depart to Hikkaduwa. Proceed to the hotel, Hikkaduwa. Overnight stay at Hikkaduwa.
Day 07: Hikkaduwa / Galle / Mirissa / Colombo
After having breakfast at Hotel departs to Galle. Upon arrival commence a city tour of Galle. Visit the Galle Fort. Visit Sri Paramananda Raja Maha Vihara Temple. Depart to Mirissa. Proceed to Colombo. Upon arrival commence a city tour of Colombo. Proceed to the hotel, Colombo. Overnight stay at the Colombo.
Day 08: Colombo to Bandaranaike International Airport (35 km approximately 40 minutes approx.)
After having breakfast at hotel consider going shopping in Colombo. Leave for airport in time for flight out of Sri Lanka.
